Catalog of unusual isolates or specimens

As a service to our collaborators, we offer a number of difficult-to-acquire isolates in this catalogue. These isolates may be acquired by contacting the Contact Person listed on the specimen information sheet and completing an material transfer agreement (MTA). The MTA procedure is simple. The contact person will work with you in drafting language for a standard MTA request.  The MTA request is sent to University of Iowa administrators to draft and sign the MTA. The MTA is then sent to you for your signature.  Once we have received the signed MTA and payment we can ship you the samples you have requested.  It takes between 2 – 4 weeks on average, but we will make an effort to expedite things on our end. Please click on highlighted isolates below to see their information sheets.

Influenza -
Influenza types A or B viruses cause epidemics of disease almost every winter. In the United States, these winter influenza epidemics can cause illness in 10% to 20% of people and are associated with an average of 36,000 deaths and 114,000 hospitalizations per year. Receiving an influenza vaccine can prevent illness from types A and B influenza. See CDC Influenza Information.

Each isolate is $100
