January 15 (sponsored students) April 30 (nonsponsored students)


Requirements for the 3 trainee categories are as follows:

Sponsored international trainees

Nominated trainees are required to submit ALL documents, including application, resume or CV, official transcripts, and an English proficieny exam score (e.g. TOEFL), if necessary.


Self-supported graduate students

Students need to submit the online application, and a resume or CV.


Professionals

Medical, veterinary, and public health professionals not currently enrolled at the University must submit an application, and a resume or CV.

1. Application

This is an electronic form to be filled out online and submitted via email.  There is no application fee required.  Please fill out your application completely.  You will need to have Adobe Reader or Adobe Professional software in order to fill out this application. If you do not have this software, you can download a free version of Adobe Reader at: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html

2. Resume or Curriculum Vitae (CV)

A resume is a 1-2 page summary of your education, skills, accomplishments, and experience.  A CV is a more comprehensive record of professional achievements.  Examples of resume and CV can be viewed.  Email your resume to whitney-baker@uiowa.edu.


3. Official Transcripts

Transcripts are required for all post-secondary education you have completed (i.e. college/university).  Please have all sealed transcripts sent to:

If time is limited, photocopies of your transcripts may be emailed to whitney-baker@uiowa.edu for application purposes, but hard copies will be required if admitted.

 

4. English proficiency exam score

All classes will be conducted in English. The university accepts the results of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), the Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB), or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).

Proficiency in the English language is required of graduate applicants from countries, including Puerto Rico, where English is not the official language.

Applicants must submit official results from one of the following with the required score.

TOEFL: (Institution Code is 5812)
Paper-Based: 550
Computer-Based: 213
Internet-Based: 80

IELTS: 6

MELAB: 77

Exemptions: International students are exempt from the English proficiency requirement if enrolled for one academic year in a degree-seeking program at a recognized/regionally accredited university or college in a country where English is the official language prior to your anticipated term of enrollment at UF, or if you are from one of the following countries:

Anguilla, Antartica, Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, Botswana, British Indian Ocean Territory, British Virgin Islands, Brunei, Canada, Cayman Islands, Cyprus, Dominica, Falkland Islands, Fiji, Gambia, Ghana, Gibraltar, Grenada, Guyana, India, Ireland, Islas Malvinas, Jamaica, Kenya, Kiribati, Lesotho, Liberia, Malawi, Malta, Marshall Islands, Mauritius, Micronesia, Montserrat, Namibia, Nauru, New Zealand, Nigeria, Pakistan, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Singapore, Solomon Islands, South Africa, Sri Lanka, St. Christopher and Nevis, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Swaziland, Tanzania, Tonga, Trinidad and Tobago, Turks and Caicos Islands, Tuvalu, Uganda, United Kingdom, Vanuatu, Vatican City, Virgin Islands, Western Samoa and Zimbabwe."

 

Notification of Acceptance

In December through February, accepted applicants will be electronically sent letters of acceptance and instructions regarding training dates and distance learning.  Please respond to this email as acknowledgement of your intent to enroll in the program.
