Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS)

The World Health Organization and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are investigating a multi-country outbreak of atypical pneumonia termed Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). Preliminary data suggest this syndrome may due to an emergent coronavirus, the human metapneumovirus, or both agents. This outbreak is significant for its rapid spread and the severity of clinical illnesses.
