ResearchPilot ProjectsSmall grant funding is available to support projects conducted jointly by intermediate-term trainees and University of Iowa faculty mentors. These grants are intended to facilitate a trainee’s research career and form the basis for an expanded independent research agenda in the future. Projects are eligible for funding from two sources, The University of Iowa’s Environmental Health Sciences Research Center (EHSRC) pilot grant program and the Fogarty ITREOH small grant program. Funding of up to $10,000-$12,000 for a 12-month period is awarded based on merit through a rigorous peer review process. Criteria are as follows: relevance to center goals, originality, scientific relevance, validity and reliability of methods, qualifications of investigator(s), likelihood of future extramural funding, and appropriateness of the project budget.
