WorkshopsWithin a year of returning home, each intermediate-term trainee conducts a short-course in his or her home country. These courses range in length from two days to one week and are planned during the trainee's stay at The University of Iowa. Trainees organize and conduct courses jointly with their faculty mentors. The target audiences for these courses are in-country and regional professionals involved in public health, health promotion, disease prevention, hygiene, epidemiology, occupational health, environmental sciences, etc., depending on the specific topic of the course. In some instances the course may be intended primarily for policy makers and government officials while in other cases the target audience may be research scientists or physicians. Most workshops are international in the sense that all major foreign collaborating institutions will help promote each one and course registrations will be considered from throughout the Central/Eastern European region.
