Graduate Certificate Program
This new Certificate Program in Agricultural Safety and Health trains students to detect safety and illness hazards, and treat and prevent farm-related illnesses and injuries.
The program is available for distance delivery for health professionals located across the country. However, we strongly encourage off-campus students take Rural Health and Agricultural Medicine (175:209) on campus. This course is offered in an intensive 40-hour (five-day) workshop in early June. The certificate program is also available for students (at the UI or other colleges) in related health or safety programs who want to supplement other training with agricultural health information.
Admission Requirements
The admission requirements for the 12-hour program include:
- A bachelor's degree with a minimum 2.5 GPA from an accredited university or equivalent experience and education.
- A letter of interest that explains the applicant's position and educational objectives.
- A resume
- Completion of this application form (PDF). It can be filled out online and either
- emailed with Word or PDF versions of the letter and resume to the Academic Program Coordinator, or
- printed out and snail mailed with the rest of the materials to the Academic Program Coordinator (address at bottom of this page)
Practicing health or safety professionals, or students with an interest in rural areas and the agricultural health industry, are encouraged to apply.
