To apply for the Occupational Medicine Residency program, you must have completed or be enrolled in a clinical year (PGY-1) in a recognized, ACGME or AOA-approved direct primary patient care specialty, such as internal medicine, family practice, pediatrics, and obstetrics/gynecology or a transitional year program. This program does not use a formal application form.
To start the application process, we request the following items:

- official transcripts from medical school and undergraduate transcripts, and any other relevant transcripts
- documentation of ACGME or AOA-approved clinical residency year
- copy of current medical license
- three original letters of recommendation, one of which must come from your most recent Program Director
- curriculum vitae
- MCAT score
- report or letter stating your USMLE status
Applications are considered complete when all of these items have been received. Application materials should be sent to:
Marlene Thompson
Department of Occupational & Environmental Health
The University of Iowa
100 Oakdale Campus, 158 IREH

Occupational medicine faculty will review your file and you will be notified of the results. This program does not participate in the national residency match program. Like most occupational medicine residencies, it is our goal to have completed screening of applicants and offer residency positions on December 15 of the academic year prior to commencement of residency.
