NIOSH-Approved Spirometry Training for Workers Screening Course

Event Date: 7/31/2008 - 8/1/2008
Location: Oakdale Hall, Oakdale Campus - Iowa City, IA  

This NIOSH-approved course is designed to provide a comprehensive theoretical framework combined with practical training necessary to conduct spirometry testing and screening for workers. Participants who pass the written and practical exams at the end of the course will receive certificates of completion. Enrollment is limited to 12 for each course date. Please call or e-mail to confirm an opening in the course prior to sending payment.

CSOMA Annual Fall Seminar

Event Date: 9/19/2008 - 9/20/2008
Location: Marriott Downtown Hotel - Indianapolis, IN  

This seminar will provide current information on occupational medicine. The seminar will also provide important resources and networking opportunities necessary for keeping current in occupational medicine. This seminar is intended for occupational medicine physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and occupational health nurses. CME credit, ABPM MOC credit and Nursing CEUs offered.

Occupational Hearing Conservationist Certification Course

Event Date: 9/24/2008 - 9/26/2008
Location: University of Iowa College of Nursing - Iowa City, IA  

This two and one-half day workshop is designed to familiarize participants with all facets of occupational hearing conservation and certify them as audiometric technicians. Upon successful completion of the course, a certificate will be awarded which documents evidence of training now required by federal law. Participants will also qualify for a certificate by the Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC). This course is intended for occupational medicine physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, occupational health nurses and others who will perform audiometric testing. This course awards 23.7 contact hours of Nursing CEUs.

Occupational Hearing Conservationist Recertification Course

Event Date: 9/25/2008
Location: University of Iowa College of Nursing - Iowa City, IA  

This workshop will recertify those who already have CAOHC certification. The update includes review of hearing measurement techniques, employee education strategies, selection and fit of hearing protection, as well as current state and federal regulations relating to noise exposure and hearing conservation. This course is intended for occupational medicine physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, occupational health nurses and others who will perform audiometric testing. This course awards 9.6 contact hours of Nursing CEUs.

10th Annual Occupational Health Nursing Conference

Event Date: 9/26/2008
Location: Kirkwood Community College - Cedar Rapids, IA  

This conference will allow participants to enhance their knowledge of current issues and opportunities related to occupational health nursing. This course is intended for occupational health nurses and other health care professionals who are responsible for occupational health and safety. Nursing CEUs offered.
