STUDENT AND FACULTY JEOPARDY
Introduction
The Industrial Hygiene Jeopardy Competition was designed to be a fun &
educational activity for IH students at the Department of Occupational and Environmental
Health. The competition is modeled after the popular show "Jeopardy."
We hope that eventually, this can be developed to include student chapters from
all over the country.
The Event
The competition is held yearly at the Institute for Rural and Environmental
Health. Six students are organized into three groups of two. Team members are
matched based on the courses that they have taken to that point, so that no
one te
am
had an unfair advantage over the other.
Industrial Hygiene Jeopardy has been expanded to a second format,
"Faculty Jeopardy," sponsored by I3HSA.
2003-04 OEH Student Jeopardy
On March 30, 2004, six students competed for the coveted OEH Sudent
Jeopardy trophy.
The teams were:
Team
1: Vijay Golla and Ann Li
Team 2: Matt Murphy and Hope Tiesman
Team 3: Jeff Miller and Ted Koener
The judges were faculty members Dr. Fred Gerr, Dr. Wayne Sanderson, and Dr. Larry Robertson. The contest was hosted by Matt Nonnenmann and monitored by Scott Collingwood. Popular categories were "IREH Personalities," "Acronyms," and "OEH Potpourri." Interesting trivia about faculty members and students was presented, including that ergonomics student Nate Fethke once worked in a Finnish scissors factory!
After two rounds of Jeopardy and a tough Final Jeopardy, Team 3 was declared the winner. Congratulations Jeff and Ted!
