Cultivating Agricultural Health
and Safety in the 21st Century:
I-CASH Endowment Campaign

Purpose of this Fund-Raising Initiative

Agricultural death rates are more than five times higher than the average for all occupations. Our vision is to change that — “To make Iowa the world’s healthiest and safest agricultural environment in which to live and work.”

I-CASH serves to lead a consortium of public and private organizations that have a stake in the health and safety of our farming community. All the I-CASH partners will have a chance to participate in the funding according to a state-wide planned program, based on sound science and input from the constituency.

Iowa agriculture’s greatest resource is its people. Your gift will help I-CASH provide innovative programs that protect the health and safety of this invaluable resource.

The more than 350,000 people who live and work on Iowa farms are truly in one of the most hazardous occupations in the U.S.

While the human costs of all farm-related injuries to Iowans are staggering, an average of more than 50 deaths per year, and 2200 injuries, the economic costs are estimated at well over $83 million annually.
