Purpose
The purpose of the 2009 Midwest Rural Agricultural Safety and Health Forum is to provide updated information on agricultural and rural safety and health and to strengthen collaborative efforts among researchers, practitioners, agricultural producers and medical professionals.

The conference includes plenary sessions on community-based participatory research, research to practice, social marketing, and rural roadway safety. The conference will connect researchers with practitioners to form a cooperative network to disseminate knowledge, implement interventions, and create social and behavioral change. Topics include: social marketing, trends in safety for mega farms, injury prevention; rural health; pesticide exposure; Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus Aureus, H1N1, AgrAbility, ATV safety, noise exposure, confined animal feeding operations, using narrative to change behavior.

Intended Audience
Health care care professionals (MD, RN, PA, NP, RT, LMHC), professionals in agricultural safety and health, occupational and environmental health, education, agricultural engineering, commodity groups, farmers, media, and local and state policy makers
