Certified Safe Farm Program Modules

 


The Certified Safe Farm program has been developed to address a variety of farm operations and concerns:

Family Farms
The original CSF program was developed to address concerns on the standard farm operation – family farms.

  • General housekeeping
  • General areas found on most farms
  • General health and wellness issues
  • General machinery found on most farms
  • General child safety practices


Dairy Farms
A CSF module for Dairy Farms was developed and pilot tested on 25 NE Iowa dairy farms.

  • Ergonomic concerns unique to dairy farmers
  • Chemical exposures of dairy farmers
  • Respiratory concerns


Elderly Farmers
A CSF module was developed to address the unique concerns of elderly farmers.

  • General housekeeping
  • Slips, trips, and falls
  • Safe machinery use

Two new CSF modules are currently under development.

Large Farms
A Large Farm module is being developed to address the unique concerns found on large farms.

  • OSHA regulations
  • Employee health and safety programs

Self-audit
A Self-audit module is being developed for farmers to use on their own to improve their farm’s health and safety.

  • Where a complete CSF program is not available, a farmer can use this checklist to improve their health and safety.
