Dean Susan J. Curry, Ph.D.

Photo of Susan Curry, Ph.D.Susan J. Curry was appointed dean of the UI College of Public Health on August 1, 2008. She is recognized internationally for expertise in behavioral science and translation of research findings into health policy. Her extensive research in tobacco includes studies of motivation to quit smoking, randomized trials of promising smoking cessation and prevention interventions, evaluations of the use and cost effectiveness of tobacco cessation treatments under different health insurance plans, and health care costs and utilization associated with tobacco cessation. Dr. Curry’s research also encompasses studies of dietary change, modification of risky drinking patterns, and methods of increasing compliance with recommended cancer screening. She has served as a principal investigator or co-investigator on 30 grants funded by NIH, CDC, and major foundations.

Christopher G. Atchison, M.P.A. - Associate Dean for Public Health Practice

Chris Atchison photoThe associate dean for public health practice has primary responsibility for representing the college in this area within the state, nationally, and internationally, and also directs the Institute for Public Health Practice, which manages the college’s public health practice outreach and training activities.

Mary Lober Aquilino, M.S.N., Ph.D., F.N.P. - Associate Dean for M.P.H. and Undergraduate Programs

Mary Lober Aquilino PhotoThe associate dean of the MPH and undergraduate programs directs the M.P.H program, oversees M.P.H processes such as recruitment, admissions, orientation, and academic advising; coordinates subtracks, combined and professional degrees, and undergraduate program articulation; assures the quality of educational programs; and represents the College nationally in M.P.H and undergraduate program development.

Tanya Uden-Holman, M.A., Ph.D. - Associate Dean for Education and
Student Affairs

Tanya Uden-Holman PhotoThe associate dean for education and student affairs directs collegiate educational programs; oversees student affairs processes, such as admissions, recruitment, and orientation; leads accreditation processes; and represents the college nationally in public health education. The associate dean also leads the college’s strategic planning functions.
