Biography -
Tanya Uden-Holman, MA, PhD
Dr. Uden-Holman received her BA, MA, and PhD degrees from The University of Iowa, where she has been a faculty member since 1999. She currently is a clinical associate professor in the Department of Health Management and Policy and associate dean for education and student affairs in the College of Public Health.
As associate dean for education and student affairs, she directs the collegiate educational programs; oversees student affairs processes, such as admissions, recruitment, and orientation; leads accreditation processes; and represents the college nationally in public health education.
Dr. Uden-Holman also is the deputy director of the Institute for Public Health Practice, which serves as the focal point for interactions involving the college and the public health practice community in Iowa, the upper Midwest, and nationally. She is also the director for the Institute for Quality Healthcare, a regional consortium of health care organizations dedicated to the improvement of patient care. She teaches a graduate course in quantitative management in health care.
Dr. Uden-Holman’s areas of research interest include public health workforce development, assessing the training and education needs of the public health workforce, improving patient safety, and applying continuous quality improvement tools in health care organizations.
