Working with Activate Iowa
The Activate Iowa program is dedicated to connecting students and professionals in public health and health care to improve the wellness of citizens across the state of Iowa. Two former interns with the Activate Iowa program are featured in a short video that describes their roles in the organizations in which they worked, and describes how Activate Iowa connected the students with health and wellness organizations. Click here to watch the video.
Featured intern: Maria Osterhaus Scott
Maria worked with the Iowa Sports Foundation and the Live Healthy Iowa program. She analyzed survey results from the End-of-Program Survey and Community Grant Survey, and put these results into a clear and concise format. In addition, she collected information on potential partners for the Live Healthy Iowa program, helped with grant writing at the foundation, and contributed to the bi-weekly tips distributed to Lighten Up Iowa participants. Samples of Maria's work can be found here.
Featured intern: Karen Summers
Karen worked with the Cedar Rapids Community School District. She compiled a resource binder about creating wellness teams and prgrams in the school district, and presented her findings to the Cedar Rapids Community School District Wellness Committee. Karen also looked for potential partners in the community, to include in the wellness program.
