Biostatistics Programs
The MS program trains students in the planning and data analysis of biomedical and public health studies, while the PhD program emphasizes both the development and the application of the statistical tools in these studies. The MS program is designed to take two years to complete, while the PhD program generally requires a total of 4-5 years after a bachelor’s degree. The degree requirements and electives include biostatistics courses, statistics courses, and a few non-statistical courses. We graduate approximately 5 MS students and 4 PhD students each year, and typically have 30-40 full-time students at any one time. Program graduates successfully compete for positions in research institutions, pharmaceutical companies, government agencies, and universities.
The College of Public Health also offers an MPH program with a Biostatistics Subtrack to provide fundamental training in the public health sciences, core biostatistical methods and theory.
