Course Description

The first ten weeks (January 22 - April 4) of this course will cover topics for survival analysis and will be taught by Dr. Smith. The remaining five weeks will be devoted to methods for cohort data analysis, to be taught by Dr. Jones.

The survival data analysis component of this course will focus on applied methods for epidemiologic problems. Methods such as the Kaplan-Meier estimator and Cox regression will be covered. Some background theory will be provided but the emphasis will be on using the methods and interpreting results. S-PLUS will be used to perform the statistical analyses. Performance in the course will be assessed through weekly homework assignments and a final project.
