Employment OpportunitiesFaculty OpportunitiesAssistant or Associate Professor The Department of Community and Behavioral Health, College of Public Health, The University of Iowa is currently recruiting candidates to fill a faculty position in the Department. The position will be filled at the tenure track Assistant or Associate Professor rank. We are seeking individuals who have a doctorate or equivalent professional degrees (MD with MPH) in Behavioral Science, Social Science, Community Health, Health Promotion and/or Health Education or related areas. Candidates are expected to have skills in community development, community organization, and/or conducting community-based intervention studies. Previous work in the area of community based participatory research is strongly preferred. Evidence of extramural research funding and publication is essential and should be commensurate with years of professional experience or potential to acquire funding. Successful candidates will be expected to maintain the Department levels of academic productivity in research or professional activity, service and teaching, and to work closely with other academic units within The University of Iowa to effectively continue interdisciplinary collaboration. If desired, additional duties related to department administration could be an integral part of this position. Salary and rank will be commensurate with experience. The Department of Community and Behavioral Health is one of the five established Departments in the accredited College of Public Health. The Department is currently in the next phase of building with strong support within the College, the University, and the public health community. The College of Public Health has over 70 full-time faculty, 200 professional staff and 40 support staff who work with an annual budget of $45 million, $32 million of which comes from extramural research funding. The College of Public Health has five Departments: Biostatistics, Community and Behavioral Health, Epidemiology, Health Management and Policy and Occupational and Environmental Health. These academic units have successful teaching and research programs. Staff OpportunitiesProgram Coordinator and Community Liaison Program Associate I The University of Iowa Center for Health Communication and Social Marketing Community and Behavioral Health Department College of Public Health The Center for Health Communication and Social Marketing in the Community and Behavioral Health department is currently recruiting a Program Associate I to provide administrative leadership and support to the Director of the Center of Health Communication and Social Marketing (HCSM) in creating, implementing and evaluating all aspects of new integrated social marketing campaign directed at reducing unintended pregnancies among Iowans ages 18-30, college and non-college audiences. Perform numerous fiscal and management responsibilities requiring a high degree of discretion and independent judgment. Required qualifications include: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Mass Communications, Public Health or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience, reasonable (1-3 years) administrative, supervisory or program experience, strong oral and written communication skills, some (6 months – 1 year) experience with public speaking and with technical writing, evidence of success and creativity in working independently and in teams, demonstrated job-related experience with and/or commitment to diversity in the work/academic environment, evidence of success in working with multiple groups, such as media, health care providers, government agencies, business owners, community organizations, etc., proficiency with spreadsheets, word processing, database, and scheduling/mailing. Desired qualifications include: A Master’s degree, considerable (3-5 years) experience in public relations, sales/management/business consulting, and/or health education, previous experience working on social marketing campaigns, creative writing and editing experience, media production experience, knowledge of young adults and reproductive health, ability to implement evidence-based and theoretically-based ideas, some experience (6 months – 1 year) with program evaluation, some knowledge of University practices, policies, and procedures.
