Prospective Students

Application Process

Application Deadline

The application deadline for fall semester enrollment is January 15th. 

Applications are not accepted for spring semester, and applications for summer are not encouraged.

Application Procedure (MS/Ph.D.)

  1. Complete the online Graduate College application.
  2. Send the following materials to the University Office of Admissions:

    The University of Iowa
    Iowa City, IA 52242
    • Official GRE general test score reports (scores must be less than 5 years old)
    • Official TOEFL score reports, if required. International students, contact the Office of International Admissions at 319-335-1534 if you have questions.
    • Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended

     

  3. Send the following materials to the Community and Behavioral Health Department:

    • Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended
    • Three letters of recommendation
    • Statement of purpose

    • Master's thesis (For Ph.D. applicants only. Applicants who did not complete a thesis should submit a sample of scholarly writing)
    • Application for graduate awards
