Application Process

Application Procedure (M.P.H.)

Community and Behavioral Health or Health Communication Subtracks

 

Application Procedure (MS/Ph.D.)

  1. The application deadline for fall semester enrollment is January 15th.  Applications are not accepted for spring semester, and applications for summer are not encouraged.
  2. Complete the online Graduate College application.
  3. Send the following materials to the University Office of Admissions:

    Office of Admissions

    The University of Iowa
    Iowa City, IA 52242
    • Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended
  4. Find the University of Iowa College of Public Health Department of Community and Behavioral Health application on SOPHAS: http://www.sophas.org/
  5. There you will need to submit:
    • A complete SOPHAS application.
    • Official transcripts showing all previous undergraduate and graduate work, with grades and degrees
    • Official GRE/GMAT scores (Official MCAT and LSAT scores are accepted in place of GRE or GMAT scores).  Scores must be less than 5 years old)
    • International applicants: TOEFL or IELTS score (no more than two years old)
    • Three letters of recommendation
    • Statement of purpose
    • Résumé describing educational and employment history
    • Master's thesis (For Ph.D. applicants only. Applicants who did not complete a thesis should submit a sample of scholarly writing)
