The Iowa CERT participates in a wide range of educational
activities. Our investigators give many presentations related
to drugs and aging, have developed tools to help clinicians
improve medication use in older adults, and are working on
ways to inform and guide patients if they are taking high risk
medications. We also work to summarize research findings for
readers without a strong scientific background.
The Iowa Geriatric Education Center (IGEC) is a founding partner
of the CERT. Together we developed a Geriatric Lecture Series to focus on mental health in older adults. We are partnering on a new project to disseminate comparative effectiveness research results to improve antipsychotic prescribing for patients with dementia.
