Iowa CERT Spring Roundtable Meeting: April 28, 2008The theme for this one-hour meeting will be use of VA data in Research. Drs. Peter Kaboli and Gary Rosenthal will be presenting overviews of two VA based studies to improve hypertension care. CERTs Science Group Conference call: April 22, 2008Karen B. Farris, PhD, presented a talk entitled, "Effect of TIMER (Tool to improve Medications in the Elderly via Review) on Student Pharmacists' and Pharmacists Identification of Drug-related Problems" for the National CERTs Science Group Conference call. "Oktoberfest" Hot Topics Meeting: October 29, 2007The theme of this one-hour "Oktoberfest" meeting was registry linkages for studies of drug use and effects. Dr. Chuck Lynch and Dr. Paul Romitti presented brief overviews of their experiences with record linkage studies using their registries. Please view the flyer for more information. Ryan Carnahan, Pharmacoepi Faculty Candidate Seminar: October 11, 2007Ryan Carnahan, MS, PharmD, presented his talk "Anticholinergics in Dementia: an Opportunity to Improve Prescribing Practices" to the University of Iowa this past fall. Summer Hot Topics Symposium: July 27, 2007Presentations by James Torner, PhD, John Brooks, PhD, Betsy Chrischilles, PhD, and Karen Farris, PhD, from the UIOAC highlighted this event. The purpose of the Hot Topics Symposium was to disseminate information and stimulate research on topics of current national high visibility in the area of drug safety and effectiveness. Geriatrics Grand Rounds: April 4, 2007Elizabeth Chrischilles, PhD, gave a talk at the VA Medical Center in Iowa City for the Geriatrics Grand Rounds. The presentation was an overview of the University of Iowa Older Adult CERT. CMS Coverage and Analysis Group Evidence Forum: Sept 20, 2006Elizabeth Chrischilles, PhD, gave a talk at the CMS Coverage and Analysis Group Evidence Forum outlining selected Iowa CERT projects and potential collaboration opportunities. Dr. Chrischilles is the PI for the Iowa CERT. DeCIDE Network Symposium: June 19-20, 2006John Brooks, PhD, was chosen to present at the DeCIDE network's Comparative Effectiveness and Safety: Emerging Methods Symposium on June 20, 2006. His presentation was titled, "Contrasting Interpretations of Treatment Effect Estimators between RA and IV Approaches". |
