SEER-Medicare databases

SEER-Medicare data contains Medicare enrollment and eligibility information and claims history for all persons in the SEER registries who have been matched to Medicare enrollment files and met our sample criteria. SEER diagnostic information for up to 10 cancers is available for each person with the selected cancer. Available cancer cases include all Iowa cancers and the following cancers from the national SEER registries: Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma cancers, lung cancers, prostate cancers, colorectal cancers, and breast cancers. Medicare enrollment and eligibility information and claims history is also available for a five percent sample of the Medicare population residing in the SEER areas.

The PSC data includes survey data and linked 1998-2001 Medicare claims, Iowa cancer registry data, and prescription dispensing data for Iowa Medicare beneficiaries with mobility disability.

Iowa Medicaid Pharmaceutical Case Management (PCM) program

The PCM data is the result of a program evaluation and includes survey data and Medicaid claims for patients in the PCM program. PCM patients were taking 4 or more chronic medications and were patients at one of 117 PCM-participating pharmacies.

Established populations for epidemiological studies of the elderly (EPESE) study - Iowa 65+ Rural Health Study data

The Iowa EPESE study data includes ten years of annual survey data for community dwellers aged 65+ in Iowa and Washington counties. The survey asked questions regarding medical conditions, demographic factors, medications, and utilization of services. It is linked to MEDPAR claims data, Iowa cancer registry data, and the National Death Index.

The HCUP State Inpatient database for Iowa contains discharge information for all inpatient hospitalizations in the state of Iowa.

United States Renal Data System (USRDS) databases

The USRDS databases contain information about end stage renal disease Medicare beneficiaries including clinical characteristics at dialysis initiation, survival, and linked Medicare claims. The USRDS databases also include information about all individual dialysis centers.
