Intermediate Term Program Application
Intermediate-Term Training is a 4 ½ month stay (one semester) during which trainees enroll in two or more graduate courses to deepen and/or expand their research interests and skills, in addition to working with a mentor in a research area of their choice. Program expectations are the completion (rough draft) of a research proposal for a collaborative project by the end of the stay, and planning of a one-day workshop to be presented in the trainee’s home country or as part of the Fogarty Summer Institute. Intermediate-term trainees will receive monthly stipends, tuition, books and a materials allowance. Housing will be arranged. Trainees’ institutions are asked to provide the round-trip air fare from Europe to Iowa City as a measure of their commitment to the benefits of the training program. If the institute in question is unable to provide airfare, the Iowa program will do so.
