Great Plains Emerging Infectious Diseases Conference
The second annual Great Plains Emerging Infectious Diseases Conference will take place April 19-20, 2013, at the University of Iowa. This conference will serve to bring together public health professionals, researchers, faculty, and students in microbiology, infectious diseases, and related fields working in the Great Plains and Midwestern states. We’re pleased to announce that this year's keynote speaker and Hsu-Li Distinguished Lecturer in Epidemiology will be Dr. Peter Daszak, PhD, President of EcoHealth Alliance and noted disease ecologist.
The format will include oral and poster research presentations selected from submitted abstracts, as well as breakout sessions which will be conducted in an “unconference” format. Leaders will not lecture on session topics, but instead will introduce the topic and then facilitate discussion involving the audience. Breakout session topics will be taken from those suggested by the organizers as well as additional topics suggested and led by conference participants.
