Staff Council Election Results

Epi Staff Council is pleased to announce two new members who will begin a three-year term on May 1: Connie Swartzendruber (State Health Registry) and Marsha Cheyney (Reproductive Molecular Epidemiology Research & Education Program). Congratulations to Connie and Marsha!

Staff Development Awards

The Department of Epidemiology Staff Council sponsors staff development awards which are designed to help defray the costs related to professional development. Stay tuned as our next award deadline is October.

Johnson County Crisis Center Food Drive

The Epidemiology Staff Council along with the Epidemiology Student Association held a donation drive in April during National Public Health Week. The Johnson County Crisis Center was pleased to receive 115 pounds of donations. We extend a huge “Thank You” to all who contributed to one of the Staff Council’s ongoing causes!

Preemie Project

The Epidemiology Staff Council along with the Epidemiology Student Association held a donation drive from Monday, January 24 through Monday, February 14, 2011. The Preemie Project provides much needed services to families of extremely ill children at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Donations ranged from bottles and sleepers to granola bars and single serving canned items. These donations will be used by social workers for needy families in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Three large boxes of supplies were delivered on Saturday, February 19, by Michele Hogue; the group very much appreciated the donation. We extend a huge “Thank You” to all whom contributed and supported one of the Epi Staff Council’s ongoing causes!
