Mentorship matters.
It may be one of the most important things you receive, and one of the most rewarding things you give, during your time in the Department of Epidemiology. ESA is committed to encouraging mentorship in this department.
We support the CPHSA Student Mentor-Mentee Program, and will be acknowledging excellent mentors among the faculty and staff. |

Audrey Saftlas still finds time to be a mentor, despite her busy research schedule. Hind Baydoun, a Ph.D. student in Epidemiology, explains that her experience with Dr. Saftlas has helped her gather important research skills while jump- |

starting her career. She has worked with Dr. Saftlas on a number of manuscripts, three of which have already been published, and several more that are currently in progress. In the process of this, Hind says, “I was able to directly apply coursework as well as learn new methods, such as meta-analysis, on my own. She also introduced me to other faculty members with diverse interests, and with whom we were able to establish a network for research collaboration.” |
