Farm Families Alive and Well

The staff of the Great Plains Center express their great concern for the physical, emotional, and financial well-being of the farm families during the aftermath of the Midwest flooding.

In 1993, the "Farm Flood Response Workshop: Implications for Agricultural Safety and Health" was held at the University of Iowa in response to the immense flooding that occured that spring. Click here for its "Workshop Proceedings and Recommendations" document, which summarizes presentations and work group discussions, and offers recommendations to assistance agencies in the areas of water quality, grain handling, indoor air quality, general safety, and stress/mental health.

Our Links page provides connection to government, state and county websites with information on flood preparation and recovery.
