Building Capacity of Agricultural Safety and Health Specialists

The Agricultural Medicine Core Course has been the national model of effective agricultural safety and health education for a decade.  It provides a strong foundation in the principles of agricultural safety and health for safety and health managers, graduate students, nurses, physicians, veterinarians, and anyone interested in the special health and safety needs of rural and agricultural communities The annual delivery of the course at the University of Iowa continues to be very well attended and is available for graduate college credit or Continuing Medical and Continuing Nursing Education Units.

 

Iowa Agricultural Medicine Core Course (June 13-17, 2016)

  • Intended to provide a strong foundation in the principles of agricultural safety and health
  • Appropriate for safety and health managers, graduate students, nurses, physicians, veterinarians, and anyone interested in the special health and safety needs of rural and agricultural communities
  • Available for graduate college credit or Continuing Medical and Continuing Nursing Education Units. If a potential student is not currently enrolled at The University of Iowa, they must first complete the online application for a Graduate College non-degree student.
  • Developed in partnership with Iowa’s Center for Agricultural Safety and Health, the Core Course was also designed to enable health professionals to join the AgriSafe Network as provider members.

 

2016 Regional Courses in Agricultural Safety and Health

To improve the delivery of agricultural safety and health services and to address unique regional needs, the Iowa Core Course in Agricultural Safety and Health is now offered nationally and internationally. Since 2011, the course has been delivered fifteen times to a total of 311 trainees in:

Texas
Vermont
Australia
North Carolina
