The University of Iowa MHA program was a wonderful place to learn and provided a terrific start to my career. The opportunity to have hands on experiences at University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in addition to the classroom learning was especially beneficial. These experiences helped to ensure my ability to choose a very competitive and highly regarded fellowship experience. I was recommended for my first job by the head of the MHA program to an alumnus, so my experience in the University of Iowa program had a direct impact on getting that first important job in healthcare administration.

I have a wonderful career filled with great people, constant learning and rewarding experiences. I feel fortunate to have received my training at the University of Iowa and have truly enjoyed my associations with the MHA program as an alum. Whether that has involved catching up with colleagues, supporting the program through work with the Alumni Board or being a preceptor for outstanding University of Iowa MHA student summer interns, the program continues to be the source of professional and personal growth.

I came to the HMP program after practicing health care law for more than 15 years. The HMP program provided me with invaluable tools to better understand and apply my prior experience in healthcare. The exposure to the theoretical elements of the financial, operational, and organizational aspects of health care rounded up this prior experience and allowed me to rapidly advance in my new career. I unreservedly credit my participation in the HMP program for the achievement of my present position as Executive Director of Manatí Medical Center.
