What interested you in health care?
Growing up, I always thought I wanted to be a doctor. I started my undergraduate career pre-med but after enrolling in a few business classes realized that my talents were better aligned to the business world. After spending a couple of years trying to find my passion within the business world, I came back to healthcare and decided that healthcare administration was a great combination of a field I was passionate about in a function for which I had talent.
Why did you choose Iowa?
During my graduate school application process I visited and interviewed at a number of schools. Iowa immediately stood out in my mind as a welcoming program with faculty and staff who would do anything to help their students achieve their goals and become successful leaders in the healthcare field. Now that I have been at Iowa for two years I can say without a doubt that my initial impression was absolutely true.
Favorite grad school moment?
I guess this is technically two "moments" but I love the annual 1st v. 2nd year softball game at the end of the year. It's a great time to relax during the stress of the end of the year and spend time with my classmates and friends. (It might help that my class has remained undefeated in my two years here!)
Hobbies?
Spending time with friends and family, volunteering, reading, and traveling. My latest hobby is training for the Chicago Marathon in October!
