NIOSH Announces New Manager for the Institutes Worklife Program
I am pleased to announce that L. Casey Chosewood, M.D. has accepted my offer to join us in the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health as Manager of the Institute’s WorkLife Program.
Dr. Chosewood is a graduate of the Medical College of Georgia and the Family Medicine Residency at the University of Connecticut. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Family and Community Medicine at the Emory University School of Medicine. After practicing family medicine and pediatrics at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford, Connecticut, Dr. Chosewood was a Senior Staff Physician at Virginia Highland Primary Care in Atlanta, Georgia from 1995 through 2000.
From 2000 through 2002, Dr. Chosewood was Medical Director of Lucent Technologies for its Southeastern Region. In 2002, he joined the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as Medical Director of Occupational Health and Prevention Services. In 2004 and 2005, Casey continued as Medical Director of Occupational Health and Prevention Services and also served as the Deputy Director of the CDC Office of Health and Safety. From 2005 to the present, Dr. Chosewood has served as the Director of the CDC Office of Safety and Health, and, also, as Senior Medical Officer in the Office of Strategy and Innovation in the Office of the CDC Director.
Dr. Chosewood begin at NIOSH on Monday, 26 October 2009, and will be headquartered at the NIOSH Office in Atlanta, Georgia.
