Pedometer challenges are a way to make moving a fun activity.
Challenge yourself: “I want to walk to the Moon!” (That’s only 477,714,000 steps!)
Challenge others: “I can get to the top of Mt Everest before you!” (a measly 52,047 steps!)
Form teams: “We will walk all over you!” (most steps in week!)
Set a goal and track your steps!
There are typically 2,000-2,500 steps in one (1) linear mile. If I had to walk to work from home (36 miles), I’d have to take 72,000 steps.
Stair steps are typically eight (7) inches high. Ten feet is a good estimate for the height of a building floor. So going up one floor requires about 21 steps.
If you want to climb to the top of an eight (8) story building, a good estimate is that you are going to have to climb 21 time 8 or 168 steps.
