I graduated from the University
of Iowa with an MS in OEH (Industrial Hygiene) in May 2003. I am a Captain
in the U.S. Army serving as a Medical Service Corp Officer working in
the areas of industrial hygiene, occupational and environmental health,
environmental engineering, and preventive medicine. I am currently the
Chief, Industrial Hygiene Division, at the U.S. Army Center for Health
Promotion and Preventive Medicine - West (USACHPPM-West) at Fort Lewis,
WA.
USACHPPM-West provides industrial hygiene, environmental health engineering,
entomological, and preventive medicine services to the active Army,
Army Reserve, Army National Guard and other DoD organizations in 19
western states including Alaska. As the Chief, Industrial Hygiene Division,
I manage a team of military and government civilian IH professionals.
We provide a wide array of technical support including exposure monitoring,
indoor air quality surveys, ergonomic assessments, design reviews, IH
equipment services and training, and IH program management and training.
I enjoyed my time with the OEH faculty at the University of Iowa. The
knowledge and training I obtained there has made me a better industrial
hygienist, allowing me to better protect the health and safety of soldiers,
government civilians and their families.
