  • Iowa Army Ammunition Plant

    The Iowa Army Ammunition Plant (IAAAP) is a 19,000-acre operational load, assembly and pack munitions facility located in Middletown, Iowa. The facility has produced conventional missile warheads and a variety of large caliber tank ammunitions, mines, mortars, artillery, demolition charges, and weapons’ component parts.

    The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) is the federal agency responsible for conducting research and making recommendations for the prevention of work-related injury and illness. NIOSH is part of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

  • IAAAP Restoration Advisory Board

    A Restoration Advisory Board (RAB) provides an opportunity for community involvement in cleanup activities at the IAAAP site, which in 1990 was listed on the Superfund National Priority List. Interested persons should contact the IAAAP or the Environmental Protection Agency if they would like to participate on the RAB. A description of IAAAP site cleanup activities is available:
