Iowa's Center for Agricultural Safety and Health

Great Plains Center for Agricultural Health

Serves NIOSH Region IV ( Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska), and dedicated to finding ways to protect and promote the health and safety of farmers, farm workers, their families, and their neighbors. The Center conducts multidisciplinary research, develops and evaluates novel disease and injury prevention models, trains health professionals, provides technical assistance and maintains linkages with agricultural health and safety professionals in the region.


Heartland Center for Occupational Health and Safety

This Center rovides graduate training, continuing education and outreach in the area of occupational health and safety. Located in the University of Iowa’s College of Public Health, it is a NIOSH-funded Education and Research Center serving Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska.

The Higher Plain, Inc

A private non profit 501(c ) (3) corporation located in West Branch Iowa that works in partnership with local, regional, and state entities to design, develop,and access funding, and manage innovative community–based projects that help Iowans achieve quality health care, particularly in the area of mental health.

Illinois Network for Agricultural Safety and Health

(University of Illinois)
Addresses agricultural safety and health issues in Illinois by promoting and improving intervention efforts. INASH is a forum that brings together diverse segments of the agricultural community. We develop, coordinate, and implement strategies to reduce the frequency and severity of injuries and illnesses associated with agriculture.

Injury Prevention Research Center (IPRC)

Based at the University of Iowa, this Center aims to prevent and control injuries in high risk rural populations by supporting research and training and by disseminating research results to policy makers.

International Association for Agricultural Medicine and Rural Health

An association for agricultural and rural health professionals, collaborating with other-health and medical, as well as, scientific associations and their representatives in areas such as agriculture, food industry, ecology, environment protection, pedagogy, economy, etc. Maintains elective collaboration with governments, governmental organizations, professional associations and other groups or individuals interested in the field of agriculture of rural health.

International Commission on Occupational Health (ICOH)

The International Commission on Occupational Health (ICOH) is an international non-governmental professional society whose aims are to foster the scientific progress, knowledge and development of occupational health and safety in all its aspects. Today, ICOH is the world's leading international scientific society in the field of occupational health with a membership of 2,000 professionals from 93 countries.

International Society for Agricultural Safety and Health

ISASH (formerly NIFS) is an organization dedicated to the professional development of agricultural safety and health professionals, providing national and international leadership in preventing agricultural injuries and illnesses to the agricultural community. ISASH provides opportunities for sharing information about research and intervention programs, improving professional skills and knowledge, networking and other supportive activities.

Iowa AgrAbility Program (Easter Seals FaRM Program and Iowa State University Extension)

A program that helps farm families affected by disabilities to adapt their homes and farms.
The program can help any family member with a disability to:
• modify tools, equipment, and machinery,
• make home and farm buildings more accessible, and
• find services that meet specific needs


Iowa Concern

A program of the Iowa State University Extension service that began in 1985 as a toll-free number serving the agricultural community. Today, the toll-free number (800-447-1985) serves urban as well as rural Iowa. By calling Iowa Concern one has access to an attorney for legal education, stress counselors, and Information and Referral services for a wide variety of topics. The web site links to Iowa Concern's Live Chat service which connects to a stress counselor where one can "talk" (type) one-on-one in a secure environment.

Iowa Farmers Union

A general farm organization representing family farmers and ranchers on issues ranging from farm income to rural health care. Farmers Union's primary goal is to sustain and strengthen the family farm agricultural structure in the United States.

Iowa Fatality Assessment and Control Evaluation Program (FACE)

Program goals are to 1) collect basic information on all occupational fatalities in Iowa 2) collect in-depth information on certain types of fatal injuries by conducting detailed on-site investigations 3) alert employers, employees, and farmers; and 4) to make recommendations and develop programs to prevent similar fatal injuries.

Iowa Network for Community Agriculture

Promotes relationships among people who are developing sustainable local food sources that are safe and healthy for people, all creatures, and the land.

Iowa Newspaper Association

An association of 310 daily and weekly newspapers, working together to provide the citizens of Iowa with information and leadership for today and far into the 21st century.


Iowa/Nebraska Primary Care Association

Established in 1988, the Iowa/Nebraska Primary Care Association (IA/NEPCA) is a bi-state non-profit membership association comprised of community health centers and other safety net providers in Iowa and Nebraska. IA/NEPCA's purpose is to provide leadership by promoting, supporting, and developing primary health care for underserved populations in Iowa and Nebraska.

Iowa Policy Project

The mission of the Iowa Policy Project is to promote public policy that fosters economic opportunity while safeguarding the health and well-being of Iowa's people and the environment. By providing a foundation of fact-based, objective research and engaging the public in an informed discussion of policy alternatives, IPP advances effective, accountable and fair government.


Iowa Pork Producers Association

The Iowa Pork Producers Association mission is to provide leadership in areas related to the industry in order to enhance Iowa pork producers' opportunity, profit, success and stewardship. The IPPA serves as the voice of Iowa pork producers on the state and national level. The IPPA plays an active role in the rule making process for livestock environmental regulations, air and water quality issues and numerous advocacy efforts.
