Agricultural Safety and Health Hall Of Fame Award
The vision of I-CASH is to make Iowa the world's healthiest and safest agricultural environment in which to live and work. More than one, or no award, may be made depending on qualifications of nominees in a particular year. 2008 Hall of Fame Award Winners
Theresa has gone above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that children in her county do not fall victim to the many hazards found on farms and is extremely deserving of this honor. Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey presented Theresa the award, and Senator Chuck Grassley assisted. I-CASH Director Kelley Donham also attended. (Award Letter) T Pioneer’s dedication to the health and safety of the employees and companies is truly unmatched in the agribusiness community. In addition, Pioneer has contributed leadership and funds to advance research on these issues including a continued presence on the University of Iowa’s College of Public Health’s Board of Directors, funding the Pioneer Professorship in Agricultural Health and Safety at the University of Iowa, and funding the Certified Safe Farm research program to reduce the number of injuries and illnesses occurring in agricultural operations. I-CASH created the Hall of Fame Award in 2002 to recognize
individuals or organizations in the public or private sector that have
made significant contributions to agricultural safety and health in Iowa.
All Iowans are eligible for the award. Nominees should have contributed
in a leadership role to agricultural safety and health issues through
promotion and awareness in his/her area of expertise over a considerable
length of time. Prevention, education, program evaluation, policy education,
policy development, and organizational infrastructure are potential areas
for outstanding merit.
Two worthy recipients accepted the 2008 I-CASH Hall of Fame Award for their outstanding work in agricultural safety and health during the WOI-AM midday radio show at the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines. The first recipient was Theresa Mowrer, a nurse at Mercy Medical Center in Guthrie Center, who has organized the Progressive Agriculture Farm Safety Days for the past eight years in her community, reaching 250 kids a year. Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey presented Theresa the award on August 7, and Senator Chuck Grassley assisted. I-CASH Director Kelley Donham also attended. 
he second recipient of the 2008 I-CASH Hall of Fame Award was Pioneer Hi-Bred International, the first organizational recipient of the award. A plaque was presented to Pioneer's Director of Risk Management Jim O'Hare by Senator Bob Dvorsky on August 14. Also in attendance were I-CASH Director Kelley Donham, and Pioneer representatives Bill Hunt, government affairs manager; Megan Meimann, communications and Kevin Stittsworth, communications.
