The purpose of the 2010 Midwest Rural Agricultural Safety and Health Forum is to provide updated information on agricultural and rural safety and health and to strengthen collaborative efforts among researchers, practitioners, agricultural producers and medical professionals. The forum includes plenary sessions on sustainability in agriculture, pesticide use related to health of agriculture workers, and rural health care delivery. The forum will connect researchers with practitioners to form a cooperative network to disseminate knowledge, implement interventions, and create social and behavioral change. Topics include: health care reform for rural areas, ATV safety, rural EMS, workplace safety, musculoskeletal disorders, AgrAbility, health literacy, children and injuries, personal protective equipment, teaching agriculture safety, hearing loss, cancer, toxicology and respirator usage, health information exchange, and injuries in confined spaces. The intended audience is health care professionals (MD, RN, PA, NP, RT, LMHC), agriculture safety and health, occupational health and environmental health professionals; educators; agricultural engineers; commodity group representatives; farmers; employers of migrant farm workers; media; and local, state and national policy makers.
