EdTracThe mission of The Education and Training Advisory Committee (EdTrAC) is to ensure that Iowa's preparedness training opportunities provide timely, integrated and quality content appropriate to their broad set of stakeholders, resulting in a well trained workforce. EdTrAC is a multidisciplinary committee of public health, health care and public safety representatives. It is co-convened by the Iowa Department of Public Health, the Iowa Homeland Security and Emergency Management Division and the University of Iowa College of Public Health's Center for Public Health Preparedness to develop additional cross-discipline preparedness training programs. EdTrAC also serves as the strategic mechanism to coordinate all of the preparedness training programs necessary to achieve the purposes of all its members. EdTrAC established a strategic planning workgroup charged with developing a preparedness training plan for the State of Iowa. This group is co-convened by individuals from state and local public health departments, Iowa Homeland Security and Emergency Management Division, fire, EMS, law enforcement, Iowa Hospital Association, University Hygienic Laboratory, community colleges, and staff from the Upper Midwest Center for Public Health Preparedness. The group underwent a seven-month planning period and held a series of outreach meetings to develop and complete the strategic plan by January 2004.
