As we enter the warmer months of the year, severe weather is always a possibility in Iowa and the Midwest. Severe thunderstorms, tornadoes, and floods can devastate communities throughout the region. The following links provide information on preparing for severe weather.

In addition, weather radios can be purchased from local hardware stores (Menards, Lowe’s, Home Depot, etc.) and electronics stores or departments (Radio Shack, Best Buy, Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Target, etc.) for less than $20. Some local television stations also have offers for purchasing weather radios
