Internships and Fellowships
Internships
and fellowships provide students opportunities to apply academic public
health knowledge and skills in a practice-based setting. These opportunities
vary in length.
Students often participate for a semester or two, working either full-
or part-time. Compensation for the practice experience also varies.
Students may be paid for the work, receive a living stipend or earn
academic credit.
Learning
objectives of internships and fellowships may include:
- Learn
the organization and function of a public health practice setting
- Become
part of a public health practice team
- Learn
critical issues of public health practice
The
application process for internships and fellowships is often competitive.
Students may be asked to submit resumes, personal statements or letters
of reference.
