Role Clarification and Additional
Responsibilities
The Course Faculty
for the Practicum (170:299) include: the Course Director, the Course
Coordinator and the Field Practice Coordinator. Course Faculty are available
to help students identify Practicum opportunities and assist in the
development and implementation of successful projects. The Practicum
grade is determined by the Course Director.
Other faculty may be brought
in to serve on review committees for oral presentations.
The Preceptor
is the practice liaison with the student, representing the organization
or agency where the Practicum is carried out. S/he collaborates with
the student in developing the proposal, and orients the student to all
aspects of the project and practice site. S/he provides guidance to,
and regular oversight of, the student in carrying out the Practicum.
The Preceptor is expected to provide feedback to the Course Director
on student performance.
Additional Responsibilities
The Preceptor is not required
to serve on the review committee for an oral presentation, or as a member
of the poster review committee. However, the Preceptor is encouraged
to attend a student's oral presentation or the poster session, and is
also asked to submit an evaluation of the Practicum project to the Course
Director. Evaluation forms are in the process of being converted to
electronic surveys.
