Question: If
I have a project that might serve as a student's Practicum Experience,
whom should I contact?
Answer: Faculty
members are encouraged to be in touch with the Practicum
Course Faculty whenever they wish to discuss potential projects.
Students meet with Course Faculty throughout the year to develop their
practicum projects.
Question: Do
I need to include a stipend in my budget to pay the student for work
done during the Practicum Experience?
Answer: Not
necessarily. The Practicum Experience is a collegiate course for which
students receive academic credit. Some students find paid positions
to complete the course requirements, however, compensation for most
is the opportunity to gain valuable real world experience.
Question: Will
I be expected to grade the student's work?
Answer: No.
The Course Director assigns the grade for the Practicum course. Preceptors
are asked to submit an evaluation after the student completes the Practicum
project to provide feedback on the experience. Evaluation forms are
in the process of being converted to electronic surveys.
