Snetselaar Named Interim Associate Provost for Outreach and Engagement
The Office of the Provost at the University of Iowa is establishing an Office of Outreach and Engagement to promote collaboration between UI faculty, staff, and students and community partners across the state. Linda Snetselaar, professor of epidemiology in the UI College of Public Health, will fill the role of associate provost for outreach and engagement on an interim basis effective June 1.

Study Shows Mental Agility Game Slows Cognitive Decline
There may be a way for older people to prevent natural aging of their minds, and it could be as simple as playing a video game. That's according to a study from the University of Iowa, which found that people aged 50 and older who played just ten hours of a game priming their mental processing speed and skills delayed declines by as many as seven years in a range of cognitive skills. CPH Professor Fredric Wolinsky, the John W. Colloton Chair in Health Management and Policy, was the lead author on the paper.

CPH Hosts Great Plains Emerging Infectious Diseases Conference April 19-20
The Great Plains Emerging Infectious Diseases Conference, sponsored by the UI College of Public Health and Department of Epidemiology, will be held April 19-20. The conference will feature a keynote address from the 2013 Hsu-Li Distinguished Lecturer in Epidemiology, Peter Daszak, president of EcoHealth Alliance and noted disease ecologist.
