 Health care symposium on leadership, quality is Oct. 30

 The 31st annual Iowa Healthcare Executive Symposium will take place Friday, Oct. 30, at the Sheraton Hotel in downtown Iowa City. Pre-registration is encouraged; however, participants also can register the morning of the event, which starts at 8:30 a.m.

With the theme "The Role of Executive Leadership in Quality Improvement," the symposium will feature lectures by several prominent health care leaders, including:

--James Conway, senior vice president, Institute for Healthcare Improvement, Boston, Mass.
--K. Douglas Deck, president and CEO, Munson Healthcare, Traverse City, Mich.
--Richard Pollack, executive vice president, American Hospital Association, Washington, D.C.
--Thomas Royer, president and CEO, Christus Health, Houston, Texas.
--Christopher Tompkins, associate professor, The Heller School for Social Policy and Management, Brandeis University.

The Department of Health Management and Policy in the UI College of Public Health, the Health Management and Policy Alumni Association and the Iowa Student Association of Healthcare Leaders sponsor the event.
