Welcome to the spring semester and a fresh start in the college’s brand new building!
Here are few highlights to get your semester going.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration of Human Rights
A number of University of Iowa events are taking place throughout the month of January honoring the legacy of Dr. King. View a schedule of events.
JAN. 17
Opening of Spring Semester Classes
Maps will be available in the CPHB atrium to help you locate classrooms, departments, computer labs, student commons, and more. Feel free to explore the new building!
Free Food Sampling at the CPHB Café
The CPHB Café, located on the east end of the new building's first floor atrium, will celebrate its grand opening Tuesday, Jan. 17. Stop by anytime between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. for free samples of the food available for purchase. Taste a variety of sandwiches--Italian, Turkey, Southwest Turkey, or Vegetarian--as well as a selection of fruit, veggies, and cookies.
Starting Jan. 17, the café will be open weekdays 7:30 a.m.- 3:30 p.m. to serve coffee, espresso, sandwiches, soup, snacks, beverages, and more!
Jan. 25
CPH Cultural Potluck with Performance by the UI PanAmerican Steel Band

11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Please bring a dish to share that represents your heritage or has cultural significance to you.
Stop by when you can, enjoy good food, and meet and mingle with people throughout the college. A special performance by the UI PanAmerican Steel Band will take place 12:15 p.m.- 12:45 p.m.

Jan. 27
Free Lecture: "Perspectives on Science and Education from the National Science Foundation: Building the Future."
Bijou Theatre, Iowa Memorial Union
1:30 p.m.
Joan Ferrini-Mundy, division director of Education and Human Resources at the NSF, will visit the UI to give a presentation. The event is open to the public, but participants are asked to register by Friday, Jan. 20.
Feb. 3
CPH Open Forum

3:45 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
All CPH students, faculty, and staff are invited to hear an update on activities in the college.
