Master of Public Health Programs for Professionals
Veterinarians have contributed to public health for over a century and Lonnie King, DVM reviews the roles and opportunities in his article, “Veterinary Medicine and Public Health at CDC”. Dr. Lonnie King is the new Director of the National Center for Zoonotic, Vector-Borne, and Enteric Diseases (proposed) at the CDC. Whether it is food safety, zoonotic diseases, environmental concerns, or regulatory medicine, veterinarians have the knowledge to positively contribute to human and animal health.
The new Distance MPH Program for Practicing Veterinarians at the University of Iowa (in collaboration with Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine) is a unique program that will not only provide the additional training to participate in one of the many roles Dr. King describes in his article, but will also enhance your ability to become board certified in Veterinary Preventive Medicine.
