How to Apply
Applicants must supply several items to the University of Iowa Admissions
Office and to the Master of Public Health Program. Please review the detailed lists below to ensure that all application
materials are submitted.

- Application Fee ($60 US Citizens, $85 International Students)
- OFFICIAL Score Reports from the GRE, or alternate approved examination scores
- OFFICIAL TOEFL report. If you are an

- Between one to two pages identifying your chosen public health specialization, describing
your career goals, and discussing your interest in public health
- Resume or curriculum vitae describing
educational and employment history
Additional Application Facts:
- All GRE & TOEFL scores must be submitted to the
Office of Admissions by Educational Testing Service (ETS). Unfortunately, we cannot
accept photocopies of score reports sent in by the student as
a substitute for the official scores.
- The MPH Program requires the GRE general test or one of the following exams:
GMAT, MCAT, PCAT, DAT, or LSAT. All official test scores must be submitted
to the Office of Admissions by the Educational Testing
Service (ETS). Unfortunately, we cannot accept photocopies of
score reports sent in by the student as a substitute for the
official scores.
- The University of Iowa GRE code is 6681. The College of Public Health GRE code is 0616.
- Please note that you will need to submit two
official transcripts, one to the Office of Admissions and one
to the MPH Program.
Application Deadlines:
- FALL SEMESTER: May 1 for US citizens, April 1 for international applicants.
- SPRING SEMESTER: November 1 for US citizens, October 1 for international applicants. Please Note: Only combined degree applications are accepted for the spring semester (DVM/MPH, JD/MPH, MD/MPH, MSN/MPH, and PharmD/MPH). All other applications must be for the summer or fall semester.
- SUMMER SEMESTER: April 1 for US citizens, March 15 for international applicants, March 1 for the MPH for Practicing Veterinarians.
If all application materials listed above
have not been received by the deadline, there may not be enough
time to review your application before the start of the
semester. International applicants should apply several months
before the published deadline to assure adequate time for immigration.
