Navigating a Changing Landscape: Partnerships for Population Health

You are invited to submit a poster abstract for the 2016 Iowa Governor’s Conference on Public Health, April 12-13, 2016 at the Airport Holiday Inn, Des Moines, IA. This is a great opportunity to share your work with over 500 public health professionals and make connections with future colleagues. Posters will be accepted based on how well the content meets the needs and interests of the public health community and the clarity of the information presented. The deadline for submission is March 1.  You will be notified of acceptance by March 11.

Students and other public health professionals are encouraged to present the results of a health intervention/program, study, or report. Presentations may include pictures, photos, charts, graphs, diagrams, and a small amount of text.  Printing handouts is the presenter’s responsibility and should include the title of the poster, contact person, email, and telephone number.  Please bring push pins to hang poster on the provided 4’ x 8’ presentation boards.

Conference attendees may view posters at other times during the conference, however, the “scheduled poster session times” are when presenters should remain at their poster for discussion opportunities with attendees. Poster displays are to be in place at least 30 minutes before scheduled time.

IN ADDITION: The conference offers a “Poster Lightning Round” session during which presenters can make a brief presentation (5-10 minutes) to a group of attendees during a breakout session time. This fast-paced session has a limited capacity, therefore poster presenters who wish to participate in a roundtable must choose one day only – Tuesday, April 12, 1:00-2:00 pm or Wednesday, April 13, 9:15-10:15 am.  

Abstracts must be 1500 characters or less, including spaces. Develop your abstract off-line before accessing the online submission form. Use your word processor to check the spelling, grammar, and word count the spell checking and word count of the abstract before submitting it. Describe the the learning objectives and practical application of your research in layman's terms. Abstracts that do not meet this criteria will not be accepted.

To apply for participation in the poster session, click the link below to be taken to a Google Form. Conference registration will be waived for one day of attendance for up to two presenters. There are three steps to submitting an abstract.  Submissions must be received by 3.1.2016 at 11:59 PM.

1. Complete all questions in this online abstract submission form.

2. Email the curriculum vitae or biosketch of each speaker listed for the abstract AND the supporting bibliography to IGCPH2016Abstracts@gmail.com. These documents will inform the conference planning committee of the credentials of presenters and when applying to provide continuing education credits.

3. Receive a confirmation email from IGCPH2016Abstracts@gmail.com indicating receipt of the requested items.
