Faculty position open for infectious disease epidemiologist

The Department of Epidemiology in the College of Public Health at the University of Iowa is seeking candidates with specific training and expertise in infectious disease epidemiology for a tenure-track faculty position. The faculty member will join a Department of 16 primary and 53 secondary and adjunct faculty members. The Department is dedicated to infectious disease epidemiology as a primary focus area with an established Center of Emerging Infectious Diseases. Outstanding collaboration between our faculty and the faculty from the other health sciences and other colleges at the University of Iowa and Iowa State University is a hallmark of the Department.

The faculty member should be eligible for the rank of assistant professor to full professor, depending upon experience.

Individuals with training and experience in methods and application of epidemiology in population-based infectious diseases, emerging infections, and/or pathogen transmission research are of particular interest.

Candidates should have a DrPH, DVM, MD and/or PhD with applicable background, training and experience in public health, epidemiology and infectious diseases. The successful candidate will have a strong portfolio with evidence of, or the potential to develop, excellence in teaching, independent grant funding, and scholarly publications in epidemiology and public health.

Duties of the faculty member will include conducting federal and other extramurally funded research, teaching of graduate students and health professionals, advising students, mentoring faculty and students along with academic and public health service.
