Through an agreement with the Association of American Universities, the University of Iowa Office of Research and Economic Development will once again make available to the campus community free live and on-demand streaming of the TEDMED 2015 talks next week.

TEDMED 2015 will be recorded during a live event Nov. 18-20, 2015 in Palm Springs, Calif., and feature more than 80 talks from transformative scientists, innovators, artists, athletes, and others seeking to create a healthier world.

University of Iowa faculty, staff and students may stream the talks to their desktops, laptops, tablets, or mobile devices live Nov. 18-20, 2015 or watch recorded videos on-demand until Dec. 18, 2015. To watch, visit tedmedlive.org, and use the Affiliate ID L00978. (Note: The linked site won’t be active until the event.)

Talks are grouped into several categories. “Human Explorations,” for instance, delves into intensely human experiences, including sexual myths and realities; the indomitable human spirit; how we identify with our genomic data; emerging technologies that edit our DNA; the tortured psyche; maximizing human potential; and related issues.

Other categories include “Mind Matters,” which explores the human brain; “Catalyzing Great Science,” which features “risk-taking researchers” working to “disrupt the scientific paradigm” and “break through barriers between academic and industry;” “Back to Basics,” looking at change-makers in the healthcare industry; “Food Fix,” featuring multi-disciplinary thinkers who are reshaping what and how we eat; “Techno-Utopia,” exploring novel ways we are creating technologies with wide applications to health and medicine; “Who Cares for Health Care?” on the challenges facing the industry; and “Out There,” which explores our changing environment and so-called fringe science that is going mainstream.

Speakers include “Genetic Rebel” and 23andMe cofounder and CEO Anne Wojcicki; “Mindful Addiction Doctor” Judson Brewer; “Entrepreneurial Science Curator” Hemai Parthasarathy; bio-electronics pioneer Kevin Tracey; U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy; food justice activist Bryant Terry; and “Meta-Genomist” Chris Mason, among others.
